The Retreat

Retreat is a boutique residential development on Jefferson Lane, just metres from the beach at Palm Beach. Developed by Ignite Projects, the building comprises 60 residences across nine levels and has been conceived around a distinctly different approach to coastal living — one centred on wellness, considered design and enduring quality. At the heart of Retreat is a subterranean, Mediterranean-inspired wellness precinct.

A sculpted lagoon pool with floating day beds sits alongside a heated spa, cold plunge, infrared sauna, gym and subtropical landscaping, creating a private sanctuary below the residences. Above, two and three-bedroom homes combine natural stone, textured concrete, timber screening and bronze detailing within an understated coastal palette. For OBX, the wellness level is also one of the project’s defining construction challenges.

Creating a substantial basement-level pool and wellness environment within a coastal water table requires carefully coordinated temporary works, staged dewatering and rigorous waterproofing. Much of that work becomes permanently concealed as construction progresses, placing an even greater emphasis on planning, sequencing and quality control.

The project brings together detailed architecture, complex below-ground construction and a high level of finish within a tightly constrained Palm Beach site. OBX is delivering Retreat for Ignite Projects through a relationship built on transparency, collaboration and a shared commitment to quality
